I was born in South Africa and now live in Cape Town. Before settling in Cape Town I travelled extensively around the world. For 18 years of my life I lived in Holland, Switzerland and New Zealand, all of which has had an influence on the way I see people. Through my journey in life I spent twenty odd years in the construction industry as a project manager before reaching my personal crossroad. I was introduced to sculpturing by a friend, Donald Grieg who is an accomplished wildlife sculptor. In 2002/3. I spent some time in Donald’s tutelage. I also did some training in the making of bronze sculptures at The Bronze Age Foundry in Simon’s Town in 2004.

My Crossroads bought me to my art and I am presently working towards my next exhibition. I choose to ‘smell the roses and live life enjoying the beauty of everything around me. “I want my epitaph to read, “I lived in excess, I loved in excess and I smelt the roses…lots”. Life is too short for conflict and idealism. Let us share in the beauty that this world and its people collectively have to offer.

I want my work to reflect living. I am focusing on people and have for a long time been concerned with the ongoing conflict that is developing around the world. The increased dis-enfranchisement that individuals experience in the drive to develop a worldwide conformity, and the continuing pursuit of materialism is alienating cultures and communities whose values are not recognised or accommodated within in the idealistic drive towards collectivism. To this end I have chosen to develop my sculptures along the theme of “Broken People”, using human form in an undefined way to reflect mankind from the inside out and collectively as a whole, out of sync,...
